Joe Cunningham made history as the first Democrat elected to South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District in over forty years, winning a heavily gerrymandered seat in 2018 and earning recognition as one of Congress’s most effective members. He later served as the Democratic nominee for Governor of South Carolina in 2022. Joe lives in Charleston with his wife, Ashley, their two sons, and their dog.
