About the Author
Joe Cunningham was the first Democrat to be elected to South Carolina's 1st Congressional District in over forty years. He won the heavily gerrymandered district in 2018 and was ranked one of the most effective members of Congress. He was the Democratic nominee for Governor in South Carolina in 2022. He lives in Charleston with his wife, Ashley, their two sons and dog.
